So looking at the Tekken 7 E3 demo I noticed that Heihachi actually survived the wakeup Raging Demon that Akuma did. That’s quite a big deal, considering that only two people took a Raging Demon head on and survived, one of who was sent into a coma for years.
However, what really caught my eye is this text from the Street Fighter Wiki entry for Raging Demon:
…the basis of the attack is said to be linked to karmic forces drawn from the influence of the Satsui no Hado, channeling an infernal punishment in which the weight of sins and evil the victim has committed attacks their soul. While immensely powerful, this attack cannot work on artificial life forms or people who lack souls.
Raging Demon essentially works like Ghost Rider’s Penance Stare, where the burden of sin that the victim bears is what attacks them. But in the demo, Heihachi just shrugs off the Raging Demon like he curled his foot or something.
This implies that Heihachi Mishima, who imprisoned his father in an underground prison for decades and forgot about it, flung his son down a cliff and later into an erupting volcano, rigged a large fighting competition his company was hosting for his own personal agenda, used his grandson as means to achieve said agenda and shot him in the head once done, and fuck idek what else, feels zero remorse about what he has done, did or wants to do.
And this is why I like Heihachi Mishima. He’s legit the best kind of villain I’ve seen.
